Addiewell Prison - Scotland
Designplan continues to uphold its reputation as the first choice for lighting within high-security accommodation with the opening of a new Scottish prison facility in December 2008.
Over the past 18 months more than 4500 Designplan products have been installed. Each cell is lit by one of 750 custom-made SaferCell fittings, together with a circular Buccaneer bulkhead featuring a tough die-cast aluminium body and polycarbonate diffuser, all held in place with stainless steel security screws - making the whole unit completely tamper-proof in the en-suite area.
Many hundreds of Designplan Securelux and T5 Tuscan fittings illuminate the corridors and communal areas, providing an even light distribution with an energy efficient lamp. Both the Securelux and T5 Tuscan, like the SaferCell are tamper-proof linear units with tough steel bodies and polycarbonate diffusers. Elsewhere the Mink, Antares, RDL vandal resistant downlighters, T5 Monitor and T5 Geneva have been employed. The main reception area for the prison has been lit with 44 of Designplan's Corvo units, while the gymnasium has been fitted with Four-Pack sports units.
